THE MALL AT PARTRIDGE CREEK HEATS UP THE SUMMER WITH FREE LIVE MUSIC DAILY

Released: 05/14/08

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., May 14, 2008 —The Mall at Partridge Creek is kicking up the heat this summer, welcoming hot musical acts every day to its HAP Summer Sounds series. The Health Alliance Plan-sponsored event is free to the public and runs Memorial Weekend through Labor Day on the WNIC/WDTW Stage located in center court near MJR Cinema 14.

"HAP is excited to support one of the best, new destinations in southeast Michigan, Partridge Creek," said Jamie Spriet, HAP vice president of Business Development. "You can walk from Nordstrom to Parisian while filling your heart and head with great music and fresh air. Keeping our Macomb County citizens walking packs a healthy energy boost so they can power shop and have enough strength to carry all those shopping bags."

The daily live music is unprecedented for a shopping center, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers. While malls often have live music, they have never had it every day for an extended period of time like The Mall at Partridge Creek.

“We’re thrilled to raise the bar yet again with this groundbreaking music program,” says Seok Chung, marketing & sponsorship director. “We fully expect the HAP Summer Sounds series to transform the mall into a gathering place for the community — a place where friends and family can relax, listen to music, have a great meal and, of course, shop.”

The HAP Summer Sounds series kicks off Friday, May 23, from 6-9 p.m. with local favorites The Sun Messengers, a popular eight-piece, horn-driven band that often performs at Detroit Pistons games. On Saturday, from 4-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m., Parrots of the Caribbean hit the stage with its energized tribute to Jimmy Buffet. The Sun Messengers return Monday from 1-6 p.m.

The concluding weekend over Labor Day will highlight four decades of music. Boogie Dynomite performs 1970s music Friday, Aug. 29. Saturday, Square Pegz ushers in 1980s music, and Sunday’s band The X Generation focuses on 90s music. On Monday, Larry Lee and Back in the Day Band tie the generations together with hits from today and yesterday.

“We incorporated entertainment on such a grand scale because of the great success we had with it during our grand opening weekend. In fact, it continues to be one of the most requested amenities by our guests.,” Chung explains. “Our guests are full of great ideas and we gladly listen to them.”

Show times are Monday-Friday, 6-9 p.m., Saturday, 4-9 p.m. and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. - weather permitting.
